What is Payment forms?
Payment forms combine intake questions with a fixed-amount charge via Stripe Connect. Connect Stripe for the workspace, add a Payment block, and publish on an eligible plan. Money collected from respondents goes through Stripe Connect and is separate from your Formit SaaS subscription billing.
How it works
- Connect Stripe Connect for the workspace that will receive respondent payments.
- Create a form and add intake fields (Contact Info, product details, etc.).
- Add a Payment block and set the fixed amount respondents should pay.
- Confirm your plan allows payment forms, then publish a version.
- Share or embed the form; review intake answers and payment outcomes in Results.
Key capabilities
Stripe Connect fixed amount
Charge a fixed payment amount through Stripe Connect as part of the form fill - suited to deposits, fees, and simple checkout-style intake.
Intake plus payment
Collect questions and payment in one published form so ops does not reconcile a separate checkout page manually.
Separate from Formit SaaS billing
Respondent charges via Stripe Connect are distinct from the subscription you pay Formit for the product.
Benefits
- Accept deposits or fees without leaving the form experience.
- Keep payer identity and answers next to the payment on the submission.
- Use a fixed amount for predictable registration fees and simple products.
Use cases
- Event or workshop deposits
- Registration fees with intake questions
- Simple fixed-price checkout-style forms
- Paid application or review fees
Example workflow
A studio connects Stripe Connect, then builds a form with Contact Info, workshop preference, and a Payment block for a fixed deposit. They publish on an eligible plan and share the link in social ads. Results show who paid and their intake answers. Studio SaaS billing to Formit remains separate from those Stripe charges.
Tips and best practices
- State the amount and what it covers in a Statement before the Payment block.
- Collect email before payment so receipts and follow-up have a clear contact path.
- Verify Stripe Connect and plan eligibility in a test publish before a campaign launch.
Limitations and plan notes
- Payment forms are plan-gated; Free may not allow publishing forms that charge respondents.
- Payment amount is fixed - this flow is not a full dynamic cart or multi-SKU storefront.
- Respondent Stripe payments are separate from Formit SaaS billing; Connect and Stripe account status control payouts.
